1. Largemouth Bass: Bass are active across multiple depths this week. Try shallow rockpiles in backs of pockets or medium depths of 4-6 feet around points and wood cover. For deeper fish holding on humps and ledges in 10-14 feet near dropoffs, use slowly retrieved crankbaits, plastic grubs, or spider jigs.
2. Crappie: Crappie fishing remains excellent with plenty of 1-3 pound fish. Use small minnows over brushpiles and around bridge pilings, particularly in coves and creek mouths.
3. Striped Bass: Look for schools of breaking shad between Buoy 16 and the Clarksville Bridge and near Bluestone Creek. Sassy Shads on 1/4 ounce jig heads fished under these schools continue to produce solid action.
4. White Bass: White bass up to four pounds are taking trolled Rooster Tails and pearl Short A’s around Bluestone Creek and main lake coves. Small white crankbaits and in-line spinners are effective.
5. Catfish: Flathead and blue catfish are frequently caught incidentally while fishing for stripers, especially near river channels and main lake tributaries.

With stable water temperatures near 68˚ and mostly clear skies, fishing conditions are favorable this week. Moderate winds around 7 mph help keep the surface active without discouraging fish. Fall patterns are well established, so anglers focusing on key structures like rockpiles, humps, and brushpiles should find consistent success. Early morning and late afternoon remain prime times for bass and striper activity. Get out and enjoy some productive fall fishing at Kerr Lake!
