1. Largemouth Bass: Pre-spawn activity is increasing with bass staging around main lake points and flooded willow bushes. Target depths of 6-10 feet using jig ‘n pig presentations, spinnerbaits in black/blue or chartreuse, and plastic craw imitations. Flipping into brush and slow rolling spinnerbaits along rip-rap can produce quality fish.
2. Striped Bass: Stripers are moving upriver to spawning areas and can be found from Nutbush Creek to Palmers Point and around Eastland and Butchers Creeks. Troll deep-diving crankbaits like Cordell Redfins or fish live shad near buoys 2-8. Bottom fishing with cut shad is also productive.
3. Crappie: Crappie are transitioning into pre-spawn, holding near brushpiles in 9-10 feet of water. Small minnows and tiny jigs remain effective, especially around submerged brush and brush piles.
4. White Bass: Active near creek mouths and main lake points, white bass are responding well to small spoons and shad-imitating lures in shallow to mid-depth water.
5. Catfish: Catfish remain active in deeper channels; chicken livers and cut shad are reliable baits.

Stable, mostly clear weather with mild temperatures and moderate winds are creating favorable fishing conditions this week. Water temperatures in the low 50s signal that many species are moving toward spawning areas but remain active and willing to bite. Anglers should focus on targeting transitional zones such as willow bushes, main lake points, and brush piles. Varying retrieve speeds and presentations throughout the day—especially early morning and late afternoon—will increase chances for success. Get out and enjoy some productive spring fishing on Kerr Lake!
