1. Largemouth Bass: Bass are transitioning into pre-spawn and early spawning behavior. Target flooded buckbrush and willow bushes on main lake points and creek backs. Use jig ‘n pig, Carolina-rigged lizards, and spinnerbaits in 6-12 feet of water. Early mornings and late evenings are prime times for topwater baits around shallow cover.
2. Striped Bass: Stripers are moving upriver on their spawning run, particularly active from buoy 10 to Bluestone Creek. Live shad and bucktails remain top choices. Focus on current breaks and deeper channels in the upper lake.
3. White Bass: White bass are schooling in the upper reaches and along creek channels, aggressively hitting small Shad Raps and live shad. Target 8-12 feet of water near creek mouths and river bends.
4. Crappie: Crappie fishing is picking up around submerged brushpiles and bridge pilings in 6-10 feet of water. Use medium minnows or small jigs. Expect some quality 2-pounders.
5. Catfish: Catfish are active and responding well to cut bait near deeper holes and channel edges.

The mild spring weather and mostly clear skies are creating favorable conditions for active fish across Kerr Lake. Water temperatures in the high 50s are prompting bass and stripers to move into shallow areas for pre-spawn and spawning activity, so anglers focusing on flooded brush and creek channels should find consistent bites. Light winds and steady water levels enhance presentation and fish responsiveness. With spring patterns underway, it’s a great week to explore both shallow cover and transition zones, adjusting lures to slower presentations as needed. Get out early or late to take advantage of topwater action before the sun warms the water further. Tight lines!
