1. Largemouth Bass: Bass are active in a variety of depths this week. Expect shallow fish in 2-4 feet of water around rockpiles in backs of pockets using shallow-running crankbaits or spinnerbaits with a steady retrieve. Medium-depth bass in 5-7 feet are hitting spider jigs and plastic grubs on points and wood cover. Deeper bass (10-14 feet) are relating to humps, road beds, and ledges near dropoffs; slow presentations like jig ‘n pig or jigging spoons work well.
2. Crappie: Anglers continue to catch quality crappie around brushpiles and bridge pilings using small minnows or micro jigs. Target 8-12 feet deep near creek mouths and protected coves for the best action.
3. Striped Bass: Schools of stripers remain active near the Clarksville Bridge and between Buoy 16 and Bluestone Creek. Trolling Sassy Shads or Cordell Redfins along river channels, as well as casting under shad schools close to shore, is producing fish. Be prepared for occasional large flathead catfish.
4. White Bass: White bass are scattered in main lake coves and around Bluestone Creek, taking trolled Rooster Tails, small crankbaits, and in-line spinners. Most fish are in the 1-3 pound range.
Cooler temperatures and chance of light rain are keeping fish active but cautious. Focus on varied depths and adjust lure speed accordingly. Fishing near structure and along creek channels is producing the best results. Despite the overcast skies, anglers should find steady action throughout the week. Dress warm and enjoy the fall fishing opportunities at Kerr Lake!
